Davies has been involved in all aspects of the income trust and REITs practice, including formation, securities, M&A, governance and tax. Davies has acted as counsel to some of the largest REITs and income trusts in Canada, including with respect to the creation of the first two Quebec-based REITs, as well as acting as counsel in connection with some of the most sophisticated M&A transactions in this practice area.

Davies has taken a leading role in some of Canada’s largest and most significant REIT and income trust transactions, including income trust conversions and mergers and acquisitions and has provided both legal and strategic advice to income trusts which sought or are seeking to restructure following the changes to the Canadian income tax laws regarding income trusts announced in 2006. Davies is also a recognized thought leader in tax as it relates to REITs and income trusts.
